I’m Chris Alan, a photographer based in the United States, and I focus exclusively on nautical and marine imagery. My work spans product, lifestyle, regattas, marinas, and coastal destinations.

I grew up in New England and have been on boats since I was a kid—first on powerboats, and later a bit of sailing. Although I’ll admit I’m not the best sailor (and atrocious at docking), I’ve always loved the water, harbors, and the rhythm of coastal life.

Most of my work is shot on location, in real conditions, wind, spray, movement, and all the things that come with being on the water. I try to bring the environment into the frame as more than just a background, it should work alongside the subject, whether that’s a boat underway, a working dock, or someone moving through the water. I’m less interested in perfect setups and more focused on making images that feel authentic and well executed.
