I’m Chris Alan, a photographer based in the United States, and I focus exclusively on nautical and marine imagery. My work spans regattas, yachts and charters, marinas, coastal destinations, watersports products, and cargo and industrial operations.

I grew up in New England and have been on boats since I was a kid—first on powerboats, and later sailing. There’s nothing like watching the sails fill and the boat come alive in the wind. Even though I’ll admit I’m not the best sailor (and terrible at docking), I’ve always loved the water, harbors, and the rhythm of coastal life.

I first picked up a camera while traveling during my military service, documenting the places and people I encountered around the world. Later I photographed motorsports, drawn to the speed and energy, before finding my way back to what feels most authentic to me: photographing life on the water.

My style combines crisp detail with a strong sense of place. I don’t isolate a subject—I photograph it in context, with the water, atmosphere, and motion that surround it. Whether it’s a yacht under sail, a racing fleet, or a watersports product, the goal is always the same: images that feel authentic, energetic, and true to life on the water.

Outside of photography, I’m happiest when I’m near the coast, exploring new places, or spending time with family.
